We had three winners in the first Model County Draw of 2016, which was held last night. They were:
Almost four years to the day since the Lotto Jackpot was last won, we now have another winner, who scoops the massive €20,000 jackpot prize.
The lucky person is Celina Hayden of Kilrush, who matched last night's numbers of 4, 15, 22 and 24. Congratulations Celina, and enjoy the money!
Ferns lucky dip winners last night were Brian Bowe, Anne Kehoe, Mike & Biddy (c/o Discount Centre), and Ann Murphy.
The jackpot for the next draw now reverts to €9,700. It's still an attractive prize, so we look forward to your continued support.
Our Juvenile footballers had a successful start to their competitive season with a narrow but deserved win over Cloughbawn this week.
On a heavy pitch, where hopping the ball was not possible, Ferns opened up a 1-2 to 0-0 half-time lead. The goal came from James Lawlor, who also scored five points during the game.
The work was far from done however, as they had to play uphill in the second half with legs tiring in the conditions, and had lost Ciarán Murphy to a black card. They kept the scoreboard ticking over, with scores from sub Joey McHale and Lawlor, but Cloughbawn clawed their way back to level, before an outstanding Lawlor free from near the touchline opened up a lead, which he doubled before the end from play. The final score was 1-7 to 1-5.
In an outstanding team effort, Niall Murphy and Adrian Breen stood out in the half-back line. The team now host Realt na Mara on Monday evening (18 April) in Ferns. Come on up and support them, throw in is at 6.45pm.
Ferns St Aidans: Liam Murphy; Patrick O'Toole, Patrick O'Hagan, Eoghan Murphy; Kyle McHale, Niall Murphy, Adrian Breen; Shane Breen, Rory Scallan; Tom Browne, Ciaran Murphy (sub Joey McHale), Tomás Breen; Charlie Carney, James Lawlor, Kevin Stafford (sub Glen Williams). Unused subs: Evan Murphy, Bob Byrne, Barry Murphy.
Well, the Lotto jackpot has survived again, and so there's still €20,000 up for grabs for some lucky person whenever it's eventually won. Numbers drawn last night were 7, 8, 15 and 30, and Lucky Dip winners were:
Peter Nolan (online ticket)
Jimmy Warren (Milltown)
The next draw will be in Peter Doyle's on April 26.
After the postponement of what should have been the Intermediate Football Championship opener v St Fintan's last Sunday, we instead get under way this coming Sunday (April 17).
Kilmore are the opponents, Bellefield is the venue, and throw-in time is 3.30 p.m.
We're likely to be short quite a few players due to a stag weekend also taking place and so we could be up against it, but you never know.....
