Our Intermediate Footballers went oh so close to qualifying for the county final today, but in the end had to settle for a draw with Taghmon/Camross on a scoreline of 0-7 each.
It was a wet, greasy, and horrible day in Wexford Park where good play was never going to be easy, but still Ferns had the better of most of the game. We led by 0-4 to 0-3 at the end of a low-scoring first half, and probably should have been further ahead, but for a number of wides and goal attempts by both Tommy Dwyer and John Breen being saved.
The second half remained tight, but Ferns seemed to be getting there when John Breen put us ahead on 58 minutes, only for Taghmon/Camross to again equalise. Still, we had yet another chance to win it, but John Breen's last gasp shot was blocked down deep into injury time, and so things go to a replay. It's likely to be in a fortnight's time.
Incidentally, a worrying sign today was Ryan Nolan limping off after 40 minutes. We hope the injury isn't as bad as it looked.
