Our under-16 hurlers fought bravely in their county final against Mogue O'Rahillys (Fethard/Gusserane) yesterday, but ended up on the wrong side of a 2-20 to 5-8 scoreline after a cracking game.
Ferns were up against it for most of the hour as they trailed the south county side by up to nine points at one stage, but they hauled themselves back into contention as the closing stages approached, and two goals by Chris Turner in the space of a minute left just a point in it with five minutes to go.
We had a chance to equalise but the shot went wide, and instead it was Mogue O'Rahillys who finished the stronger, with a couple of extra points to make sure of the win.
Hard luck to this great young team, and we're sure we'll see them back in more finals in the future.
