Our juvenile hurling team had an important win by 3-19 to 0-11 over Liam Mellows last night, to qualify for the county quarter-finals.
This was a match Ferns had to win to be sure of a play-off spot. Our lads were against the wind in the first half but still led by 0-9 to 0-8 at the break, after a tough battle. Goals in the second half then from Brian O’Neill, Chris Turner and Niall Murphy really turned the game in favour of Ferns, while Chris Turner also added a number of super points.
The team was: James Lawlor; Steve Warren, Patrick O’Hagan, Robert Murphy; Shane Stafford, Conor Scallan, William Bolger; Eoin Murphy, Jeff Tobin; Michael O’Brien, Chris Turner, Brian O’Neill; Thomas Breen, Niall Murphy, Rory Scallan. Subs (all used): Eoghan Murphy, Jordan Kirwan, Kevin Stafford
The final North Wexford table now shows Ferns and two other teams on ten points, and two teams on nine points. Ferns have a quarter-final to look foward to against a team from the South Wexford group.
