Junior Hurling Championship 2012
Note: Some match reports missing
July 7: Ferns St Aidans 1-14, Our Lady's Island 2-7
A powerful first half performance built the platform which allowed Ferns St Aidans to eventually prevail by four points against previously 100% Our Lady's Island in Blackwater in round four of the County Junior Hurling Championship Group B campaign.
The Ferns seconds, who were seeking their first win, registered five points before Derek Thorpe netted on nine minutes to give them an eight-point lead. The Island responded with a goal from John Walsh. But it was Ferns who dominated to establish a useful 1-12 to 1-2 half time lead.
Ferns appeared to be coasting when Ben Bernie and Thorpe (free) extended their lead further. However, that Thorpe free was to be their last score, as the Island made good work of staging a comeback. Darragh Sinnott goaled on 33 minutes to spark a mini revival, and four Dean Maloney frees reduced their arrears to 1-14 to 2-7 with eleven minutes remaining. However, Ferns deservedly took the spoils.

August 5: Ferns St Aidans 0-15, Oylegate/Glenbrien 0-5
The Ferns St Aidans second string have kept themselves in the frame to make the last eight of the County Junior 'A' Hurling Championship with this routine Group B win over a disappointing Oylegate/Glenbrien side at St Patrick's Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
Ferns can now qualify at the expense of the Rathnure thirds if they beat Taghmon/Camross in their final game, but a draw would see Rathnure, having beaten Ferns in the group stages.
Oylegate enjoyed a brief taste of the lead against Ferns with a second minute point from John McCormack, before the winners' talisman Anthony Dwyer (free) and Patrick Breen turned the tables by 0-2 to 0-1. McCormack restored parity but Ferns pulled ahead by 0-6 to 0-3 before half-time despite being hugely wasteful, thanks partly to a brace from Dwyer.
The clouds burst on the restart but they didn't dampen the Ferns momentum, or do anything to improve their shooting either. Regardless, the reds stretched clear by 0-9 to 0-3 before McCormack ended a 20-minute scoring drought for Oylegate with a point on 45 minutes. Anthony Dwyer and John O'Leary each smacked over closing braces (including a gem from the left by O'Leary) to comfortably keep Ferns in the qualification hunt.
Ferns St Aidans: Conor Swaine (capt.); Teo Leacy, Martin Dunbar, James Byrne; Brian O'Neill, Darren Davitt, John Murphy; Patrick Breen (0-1), Paddy O'Leary; Keith Rynhart (0-1), Ben Bernie (0-2), John O'Leary (0-2); Patrick Tonks, Jamie Dunbar (0-1), Scoby Dwyer (0-8, 4 frees, 1 '65').
