We're all going to get a bit fitter and have a bit of fun doing it during the Ferns Activ8 Challenge 2016!
It's called Activ8 because it encourages people to become more active, over the course of eight weeks. And hopefully the good exercise habits we develop during that time will last much longer than that! We've got twelve team leaders, and all are welcome to join in with any of them, at any stage. You can use the registration form here to say which team you would like to be part of, or even just say you're happy to be added to any of the teams, just so long as you get to take part. The eight weeks of Activ8 run from from Friday October 7 to Friday December 2, and activities include:

ACTIV8 - FAQ
What’s Activ8 all about?
It’s a way of encouraging people to become more active and healthy over the course of eight weeks. It’s easy at this time of year to fall into the habit of just lounging in front of the TV each night, and not going outside at weekends either. So we’re giving you something to go to.
How does it work?
We’ve got twelve team leaders, who are responsible for keeping their troops together and making sure they know of everything that’s going on. You can register to be with the team leader of your choice, or just say you’re happy to be with any of them, so long as you get to take part!
What/how often are the activities?
We’ve got a mix of midweek and weekend events planned. Midweek events centre mainly around the GAA grounds and our walking track (five laps is approx. 2¼ miles). Weekend events will include social walks at other venues, and some feature events too – like a Family Forest Walk, and a cross-country ‘Muck Run’. That one promises to be great fun!
Do I have to go to them all?
No! Just come along to whatever suits you, whenever suits. There’s no obligation on anybody to be at everything.
Is there any cost involved?
Most events are free. There will be an entry/registration fee for some (e.g. €5 for Forest Walk, €10 for Muck Run). These events will be open to everybody, not just team members.
Is there other money involved?
We ask all participants to pay a €5 registration fee, and take a sponsorship card to seek support from others. How many others you ask for support is up to you.
Where will the money go?
Money raised will help with the Ferns St Aidans GAA club Development Fund. Our plans include ongoing and improved provision of community facilities, including a community gym in a major new complex.
Will there be a winner at the end?
Yes. One of our teams will be declared a winner, based on points scored the following ways:
How go I get involved?
Simple! Just fill in the registration form above, or contact any of the team leaders directly. Welcome aboard!
